On 15 January, Maine’s lighthouses were named one of 25 heritage sites at risk by the World Monuments Fund (WMF), a designation that highlights significant cultural landmarks facing urgent challenges. This recognition brings global attention to Maine’s iconic lighthouses, creating opportunities for funding, collaboration, and preservation efforts to ensure their survival for future generations.
We commend Ford Reiche for his tireless work in bringing awareness to these endangered sites, alongside Bob Trapani Jr. of the American Lighthouse Foundation. Thanks to their efforts, Maine’s lighthouses now have the visibility needed to inspire action and support.
Join us on 6 February as Ford Reiche discusses the WMF designation, the dangers facing these historic structures, and ongoing efforts to preserve them. Be part of this important conversation and learn from Ford’s preservation work. Register today and submit your questions!
