Capt. Cesare Sorio

Capt. Cesare Sorio has an extensive background in the maritime industry. During his fifteen years at sea, he served on various types of vessels, including coastal cargo, sailing and motor yachts, ocean trading tankers, and world-wide cruising passenger ships.
His activities ashore include all aspects of ship building and ship conversion and repair, vessel purchasing and sale, economics of transportation, and marine operations.
After working for various international oil companies, he co-founded his own independent maritime consulting group and eventually retired at the beginning of 2011.
He continues to be involved with the industry by his affiliation with Italian Masters and Chief Engineers Association and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME). He also is a member of the the American Bureau of Shipping’s Council and Classification Committee and a commissioner of the Town of Guilford, CT Harbor Management.
Graduating first in his class from the Italian Merchant Marine Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree, Captain Sorio completed graduate studies in finance and transportation at Northwestern University in Chicago. He maintains a valid Master License in Italy and the USA.
