Captain Sally McElwreath Callo , USN (Ret.)

In the corporate world, Sally has been a communications strategist, specializing in crisis, strategic and marketing communications in the oil, airline, publishing and energy industries. She was most recently Senior Vice President and Corporate Officer with Aquila, Inc., then a Fortune 100 company.  Prior to joining Aquila, she was Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications for Macmillan, Inc.; Director of Marketing Communications for Trans World Airlines; and Manager of Corporate Communications for United Airlines. Before that, she held various communications positions with ARCO and Sinclair Oil Corporation.

She holds a BA and MBA from Pace University.  Sally also served as a public affairs officer in the U. S. Navy Reserve for 27 years, attaining the rank of Captain.  In 2009, she served as Director of the Commissioning Committee of the USS NEW YORK LPD21, the ship containing steel from the fallen World Trade Towers forged into her bow.  She serves on the Boards of The U.S. Naval Service Personnel Supplemental Educational Assistance Fund and is a founding member, along with her husband, Rear Admiral Joseph Callo, USN (Ret.), in the American Friends of the National Museum of the Royal Navy, and is on the Advisory Committee of the New York Council of the Navy League.
