Denise Krepp

Denise Rucker Krepp works at the Naval History and Heritage Command. In this role she was the Navy liaison to the Naming Commission and was honored to help the Army remove the names of two Confederate family members from Army bases.
Ms. Krepp began her career as an active duty Coast Guard officer. After September 11, 2001, Ms. Krepp helped create the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security. She served as Senior Counsel on the House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee. During the first Obama Administration, Ms. Krepp served as the Maritime Administration Chief Counsel and Special Counsel to the U.S. Department of Transportation General Counsel.
She served for several years as locally elected DC official (Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner) and Girl Scout troop leader. Ms. Krepp was also a member of the Transportation Security Administration Surface Transportation Security Advisory Committee.
Ms. Krepp is currently DC Ambassador for the Military Women’s Memorial and is an advocate for military sexual assault survivors.
A prolific writer, Ms. Krepp’s essays have been published in The Washington Post, CNN, Richmond Times-Dispatch, Maritime Executive, CQ Roll Call, Navy Times, Military.com, The Hill is Home, Tradewinds, Proceedings, and Gcaptain.
