The Trustees of the National Maritime Historical Society invite all members to join us for our Annual Meeting milestone the weekend of 19–21 July 2024 at our Peekskill headquarters in the heart of the majestic Hudson River Valley, New York. We look forward to gathering to celebrating the official opening of our Ronald L. Oswald Maritime Library. Along with other Society members, you will have the opportunity to attend presentations from leaders across the maritime heritage community and enjoy tours in the Hudson River Valley.

Annual Meeting Weekend Schedule

Friday, 19 July 

FRIDAY CRUISES ARE NOW SOLD OUT. PLEASE REGISTER FOR THE RONALD L. OSWALD MARITIME LIBRARY RECEPTION. On the morning of Friday, 19 July, we’ll enjoy a narrated cruise along the Hudson River aboard the Evening Star, with a boxed lunch. Later that day, we will meet at our headquarters in the Hat Factory, where we’ll officially christen the Ronald L. Oswald Maritime Library with drinks and light refreshments. Registration for the Friday boat tour including boxed lunch is $80 per person.

Saturday, 20 July

On Saturday morning, 20 July, we’ll enjoy a continental breakfast followed by the annual business meeting, presentations from leaders in the maritime heritage community, and lunch at the lovely Cortlandt Yacht Club in Montrose, New York, minutes from Peekskill. After the meeting, members will meet at West Point to embark on a two-hour **History and Tradition bus tour**, highlighting the rich story of the fortification at West Point, its role in the Revolution, and the influence of the US Military Academy on US military policy. On Saturday evening you are invited to join us for our annual Dinner to Honor Trustees to be held at the nearby Overlook Lodge at Bear Mountain. Registration for the Saturday annual meeting is $100 per person and includes breakfast, the business meeting, presentations, lunch, and the bus tour of West Point. Additionally, dinner at the Overlook Lodge is $90 per person featuring a cash bar. **You are off the bus at various stops for approximately 1.5 hours. Most are outdoors and pathways may be unpaved and the ground uneven.  We encourage guests to bring a water bottle and take measures to protect themselves from the elements and to wear appropriate footwear.**

Sunday, 21 July

Sunday, 21 July, join us as we tour Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park, New York, an hour north of the Overlook Lodge, and home to the 32nd and longest-serving president of the United States. Explore Eleanor and Franklin's home, the nation’s first presidential library, and enjoy over a thousand acres of gardens and trails. Tickets are $20 per person.


NMHS has reserved a block of four rooms at the Overlook Lodge at Bear Mountain located at 55 Hessian Drive, Bear Mountain State Park, Highland Falls, New York for $259 per night plus applicable taxes. To reserve your room, call 845-786-2731 ext. 0 and request rooms under ”National Maritime.” This rate is available until June 4 or until the block is full.

All Annual Meeting Weekend Activities: $290 per person—includes Friday's boat tour, lunch,  Friday evening's reception, the Annual Business Meeting with breakfast and maritime presentations, the bus tour of West Point, Saturday's Trustees’ Dinner, and Sunday's tours of FDR's Presidential Library and Museum.

Single Day Activities:

Friday, 19 July: $80 per person — includes cruise, lunch, and library reception.

Saturday, 20 July: $100 per person — includes breakfast, the business meeting, presentations, lunch, and tours. $90 for the evening's Trustee Dinner.

Sunday, 21 July: $20 per person for the FDR Library and Museum Tour.
