2020 NMHS Invitational Art Gallery featuring ASMA Artists

Working together – In the spring of 2020, the National Maritime Historical Society and The American Society of Marine Artists joined forces to host the virtual 2020 NMHS Invitational Art Gallery featuring members of the American Society of Marine Artists and offering an exclusive opportunity to view and purchase original paintings. Through the leadership of acclaimed artist Patrick O’Brien, a select group of ASMA artists including Don Demers, Laura Cooper, Nicolas Fox, Neal Hughes, Russ Kramer, Richard Loud, Leonard Mizerek, Sergio Roffo, Len Tantillo, and Lisa Egeli, ASMA president, displayed their work.  25% of the sale price of each painting benefited the National Maritime Historical Society and was tax deductible for the buyer.

The late Peter Stanford, NMHS president emeritus, helped found the American Association of Marine Artists back in 1978 to “recognize, encourage, and promote marine art and maritime history.”  ASMA artists are an amazingly talented and knowledgeable resource, not just to those who appreciate and collect art, but to those who value the study of maritime history. These artists bring to life seafaring scenes from every age and successfully capture the spirit and character of sailing and ships, large and small, power and sail, merchant, military, or leisure.

Unfortunately, the 2020 NMHS Invitational Art Gallery has ended, however you can still view the stunning original paintings below, and if you are interested in purchasing a piece NMHS would be pleased to contact the artist on your behalf. Please email your inquiry to vicepresident@seahistory.org.
