Madisonville LA Wooden Boat Festival
October 12, 2019 - October 13, 2019
The 30th annual Wooden Boat Festival at Madisonville highlights for thousands of visitors close to 100 beautiful classic vessels. Stroll our beautiful Tchefuncte River waterfront while enjoying local food and music and watch bold Cardboard Boat Racing on Saturday, Oct 12 and the Quick n Dirty Boatbuilding Race on Sunday. Wide-ranging children’s activities involve boats, songs, and seafaring skills.
Madisonville’s long history as a boatbuilding area includes the 1918 launch of Bayou Teche, now one of the vessels in the Ghost Fleet at the newly declared National Marine Sanctuary at Mallows Bay-Potomac River. Come hear our sea, river, and lake stories and see our boats in the water and our museum displays. A special addition at our docks this year will be PT-305 from the World War II Museum in New Orleans. See www.woodenboatfest.org for additional information.
