LOT 1: Two crew positions on Black Watch

Get ready for a thrilling experience! Two crew positions on Black Watch for the 20 & 21 July 2024 - 50th Annual Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club Regatta and Shipyard Club Classics Challenge.

The regatta is one or two races each day among and around the islands of the Booth Bay area of Mid-coast Maine. Auction winner will be able to help with crewing or simply enjoy the ride either or both days. Black Watch was built in 1938. She is a 65’ Sparkman & Stephens yawl. Black Watch actively races with a crew of 15-18 and is the winner of numerous races and regattas over the last 20 years. Transportation and accommodations are not included.

Tour is set for Sunday, May 19th at 10:00 AM – if this date is not convenient Ryan Szimanski will try to work with you on an alternate date. Tours are only available Saturday & Sunday – April & May.

Once in a lifetime experience! Curator Ryan Szimanski will provide up to 10 guests with a rare and exciting guided Dry Dock Tour of the massive Iowa-class Battleship New Jersey! Guests will walk around the exterior hull and have the chance to witness the ship out of the water, observe the ongoing restoration work, and learn about the history and significance of the vessel. This exclusive experience offers a fascinating insight into the maintenance of such a historic and iconic ship, making it a must-see for military history enthusiasts and anyone with an interest in naval heritage.

Please Note: This tour is not handicapped accessible and climbing stairs is required to get into and out of the worksite. This is an active, outdoor worksite. Please dress accordingly, including steel-toed shoes and sturdy pants. If you don’t have steel-toed shoes, the Battleship New Jersey will provide a steel-toe shoe slip-on for your tour. Includes a commemorative branded hard hat and eye protection.

Beyond the Spectacle

Support the “hands on” maritime experience to involve students from around the country in sailing aboard tall ships to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary, up the coast to New York City, and in the grand Parade of Sail in NY Harbor on 4 July 2026. Your support will also fund the “Hanging Out on the High Seas” pamphlet, Sea History’s introduction to Sail250, printed and online, we will produce to teach students in the port cities of Sail250 about ships and our maritime heritage.
