Just north of Mystic Seaport in Connecticut is a wonderful and interesting aquarium. It has tidal pools, many sea creatures on view, and several very active large mammals. The hands-on activities are interesting and help students to understand the complexities of working with machines in water. The aquarium is home to the Institute for Exploration, which features exhibits from Dr. Robert Ballard’s organization, which specializes in deep-sea research and ocean exploration, including his exploration of the Black Sea and Titanic.
