About the Speaker
Charles B. Anderson comes from a family with deep maritime roots—his father, Commodore John W. Anderson, was master of the SS United States from 1952 to 1964. A US Navy veteran and Commander in the Naval Reserve, Anderson built a distinguished career in admiralty and environmental law, serving as a partner at Haight, Gardner, Holland & Knight and later as head of Skuld North America Inc. He studied at Columbia and Princeton and was a Marshall Fellow at the University of Copenhagen. A longtime trustee of the National Maritime Historical Society, he also serves on the Board of the SS United States Conservancy and is co-author of Shipping and Environment.
