Join us Saturday, 3 December, for the final NMHS Seminar Series of 2022 featuring the two-time winner of the Commodore John Barry Book Award Tim McGrath and his account of the remarkable life of the fifth president of the United States in his book James Monroe: A Life.
With extensive research, Mr. McGrath has vividly captured the epic expanse of James Monroe’s incredible life as a Revolutionary War hero, a skilled diplomat and statesman, and a two-term president who transformed the nation. An expert on early American naval history, Mr. McGrath will examine Monroe’s pivotal decisions that strengthened America’s global power while leaving a complicated and far-reaching legacy.

About the Speaker
- Tim McGrath is the recipient of the Samuel Eliot Morison Award for Naval Literature and a two-time winner of the Commodore John Barry Book Award, as well as the author of the critically acclaimed biography John Barry: An American Hero in the Age of Sail and Give Me a Fast Ship: The Continental Navy and America’s Revolution at Sea. He lives outside Philadelphia.
