Join us as renowned maritime archaeologist Dr. James Delgado, explorer, preservation expert, historian, author, television host, and Senior Vice President of SEARCH, Inc., discusses his latest book, Wreck Divers & Archaeologists: A History of Maritime Archaeology in California, co-written with Thomas N. Layton. Drawing from decades of experience in maritime preservation, including his tenure directing NOAA’s Maritime Heritage Program, Dr. Delgado explores the evolution of maritime archaeology in California primarily through the influence of both amateur wreck divers and professional archaeologists. A recent review in Sea History magazine praised the book, stating it “…stands out as an essential contribution to the literature of maritime archaeology, inspiring readers to appreciate the stories hidden beneath the waves and the dedication required to uncover them.”
