Description
This beautiful and most famous of all Hudson River steamboats, Mary Powell, once known as the “Queen of the Hudson,” heads north past Storm King Mountain and the tugboat George W. Washburn on a September evening in 1905.
Generously donated by William G. Muller from his Personal Collection. Muller grew up on the Hudson River. As a young man, he served as quartermaster aboard SS Alexander Hamilton in the 1950s and went on to become a master painter, specializing in the steamboat era in the Hudson River and beyond. A founding director and Fellow of the American Society of Marine Artists, Muller serves as an advisor to the National Maritime Historical Society.
